"I have been a pastor for 54 years and engaged in many capital campaigns. Never have I encountered such a meticulously organized and executed program as the one just concluded with TLC Ministries."
These results have proven to be consistent throughout the campaigns lead by TLC Ministries, so it would be reasonable to expect them in your Scriptural Funding Campaign as well:
Most people will want to give significantly over and above their regular giving to help their church fulfill its mission. The average ratio of funds raised in TLC churches for their building projects is about three times the church’s annual budget, and about two times for debt retirement, in additional funds during the three year giving period of the campaign.
Long-term debt will cost the church considerable amounts in interest expense, making the total cost of the building project much higher than the original loan. That interest money is lost forever to the ministries of the church. As one pastor said, “Now that my people have seen how much money they are saving, our church will never go into long-term debt again.” Short term debt is normal for most churches. To put this in perspective, when a church opts to delay the building to accumulate more up-front money, the savings on interest is usually lost on the increased cost of the construction.
The best training is to do something yourself while being trained by a mentor or leader. Since obedience to the Scriptural truths of stewardship is one of the key factors of every campaign, there will be several opportunities throughout this campaign for these stewardship truths to be studied and put into practice.
Many people will start to give during a TLC Scriptural Funding Campaign, and will continue their giving after its conclusion. Also, most people will give significantly more at this time than they had been giving before. While we do not promise specific financial results, we find that the church’s budget usually remains stable, and often increases during the three year giving period of the campaign.
Lay involvement is extensive throughout the campaign, enlisting many people who may never have served in the church before. Then they are trained how to lead and/or serve. TLC purposely mentors the campaign leaders in Scriptural leadership principles.
The personal involvement of most active adults within the congregation develops renewed concern and commitment, resulting in positive spiritual growth. It brings people closer to God for them to serve with a willing heart.
When people work together on a big project, they become a part of each other. Their vision and efforts become as one. This brings support, interdependence, and a spirit of oneness as they learn to work together on their specific tasks.
TLC Ministries conducts its Scriptural Funding Campaign in such a manner that it regularly exceeds the church’s expectations of it. It can happen in your church as well. After the end of the campaign in a church in Massachusetts, one lady told Dr. Hallett – “When you told us before our campaign what had happened in other churches, I thought that could never happen here in our church. But it has happened here, and we are a much better church for it.”
